Guava and Cheese Turnovers
Ingredients
- Pepperidge Farm frozen puff pastry sheets
- Guava Paste
- Cream Cheese, softened
- Cinnamon
- 1 egg
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350ºF
- Take frozen, pre-made puff pastry sheets out of box and let them thaw about 20 minutes so that they become easier to work with. Place on flat surface.
- Use lightly floured rolling pin to roll sheets out slightly, pinching together any cracks in the dough.
- Using paring knife, cut each sheet into 4-6 equal squares.
- Cut guava paste into slices about 1/4″ thick and place diagonally in center of each pastry square. Add equal amount of cream cheese on top of guava paste. Sprinkle cinnamon on top, avoiding edges of pastry.
- Whisk egg in small bowl to use as egg wash. Brush egg wash along edges of each pastry square.
- Fold pastry over to form triangles and press edges down with a fork to form seal.
- Make small cuts across top to create heat vents. These will keep the turnovers from exploding while cooking.
- Place turnovers on baking sheet, then brush egg wash on top to cover entire surface.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
Notes
- Sprinkle finished turnovers with powdered sugar if you like.
- You could place chopped mint leaves inside.
