Guava Sauce
Ingredients
- 150 grams of guava paste (cut into cubes)
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
- 1 tablespoon of flour
- 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or agave
Steps
- Cut the guava paste into small cubes.
- In a small pot over low/medium heat, add the guava paste, water, lime juice, and maple syrup. Stir.
- The sauce will eventually come to a boil. Let it cook for about 15 minutes and be sure to stir it every few minutes to help dissolve the guava paste. Eventually all the guava paste cubes will dissolve into the sauce.
- Once the guava paste cubes have dissolved and the sauce looks liquidy, add the flour. Note: Be sure to pour the flour into the pot through a strainer to ensure fine powder and to avoid flour clumps.
- Let the sauce boil some more and continue to stir to remove any flour clumps (about 5 mins).
Notes
- Enjoy with deditos de queso, on toast, on a wine board, or as a dip!
- Yields about 1 ½ cups of sauce.
